Rimac Unveils Verne: Self-Driving Two-Seater for UK Market

Rimac Launches Verne: A New Self-Driving Taxi Service Coming to the UK

Rimac, known for its innovative electric vehicles, has introduced Verne, a new spin-off focused on launching an autonomous taxi service in the UK by 2026. This driverless taxi service will revolutionize urban transportation with a radical two-seat electric hatchback designed for comfort and convenience.

Interior Innovation

The Verne ‘robotaxi’ boasts a spacious interior with ergonomic seating and onboard entertainment options. The extra-large seats offer five different position settings for optimal comfort during work or relaxation. The dashboard has been replaced with a massive 43-inch display screen controlled via a touchpad on the center console, providing entertainment and journey information.

Designed for Efficiency

Verne’s two-seat layout was chosen to accommodate the fact that most rides only have one or two passengers. The bespoke ride-hailing app allows passengers to pre-condition the interior to their preferences, ensuring a comfortable ride every time. Additionally, the autonomous driving systems, developed in partnership with Mobileye, ensure a safe and efficient journey.

Future Expansion

Verne’s electric car platform is highly adaptable, allowing for future variants tailored to regional needs. The service will initially launch in Zagreb in 2026, with plans to expand to the UK and Germany in 2027. The company aims to establish ‘motherships’ in each city to serve as bases for vehicle maintenance and charging.

Overall, Verne’s innovative approach to autonomous taxis is set to transform urban transportation and put Croatia on the map as a leader in future technologies. Stay tuned for the launch of this groundbreaking service in the coming years.
