Robert Wickens: From Paralysis to Racing Champion

Robert Wickens faced a life-altering moment when he crashed during the Pocono IndyCar race in 2018, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. The Canadian racer’s dreams of racing seemed shattered as he suffered a bruised spine that took away his ability to walk.

A Remarkable Comeback

However, Wickens refused to let his injury define him. By 2022, he defied the odds and made a remarkable comeback to full-time racing. Thanks to specially adapted hand controls, Wickens was able to compete in IMSA’s TCR class with Bryan Herta Autosport.
