Seat Announces Upcoming Facelifts Across its Lineup
Shift Towards Fuel-Efficient and Electrified Engines
Seat, a member of the VW Group, is gearing up for a rejuvenation with plans for facelifts on models like the Ibiza, Arona, Leon, and Ateca. The Spanish automaker is focusing on fuel-efficient and electrified combustion engines as it prepares for the end of the ICE era.
Introduction of Electric Vehicles on the Horizon
Seat is also eyeing the introduction of an electric vehicle once affordable electric platforms become more accessible. Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Seat and Cupra, emphasized the brand’s health and growth trajectory during the VW Group’s annual media conference.
Facelifts For (Almost) The Entire Range
Seat has revealed plans for facelifts on popular models like the Ibiza and Arona. The upcoming updates will include visual enhancements such as sharper LED headlights and redesigned bumpers to keep these subcompact vehicles appealing for years to come.
The Facelifted Seat Leon
The Leon will be the first to receive a mid-lifecycle update with technological improvements like a newly designed HMI and LED Matrix headlights. The powertrain lineup will also see a refresh with the addition of a new PHEV offering extended EV-only range.
Updates on Other Models
The Ateca SUV, introduced in 2016, will also undergo updates, while the fate of the Tarraco remains uncertain. Seat is considering dropping it from the lineup.
EVs Are Coming When The Time Is Right
Seat is exploring the possibility of launching a fully electric model when affordable electric platforms are more accessible. The brand’s EV plans are still in development, with a focus on smaller segments for a potential new electric offering.
Teasing Future Electric Models
In the past, Seat teased electric concepts like the el-Born EV and a smaller EV that was later canceled. The brand is waiting for the right time to invest in a new electric vehicle that aligns with its vision.
