Skoda Superb Sportline: The Most Athletic Version Yet

Introduction

Skoda has expanded the lineup of its flagship model, the Superb, with the introduction of the Sportline trim. This new version offers a sportier alternative to the luxurious Laurin & Klement trim, featuring mild visual updates, new wheels, lowered suspension, and generous equipment. While the Superb Sportline boasts a sporty appearance, it retains the standard powertrains, with the possibility of an even more powerful Superb RS in the future.

Exterior Design

The Superb Sportline stands out with its black bumper extension, side skirts, and diffuser. All the chrome elements have been replaced with metallic black trim, complemented by tinted windows and Sportline emblems. The model also features LED Matrix beam headlights and LED taillights with animated indicators. Customers can choose between the standard 18-inch anthracite wheels or opt for fancier 19-inch Torcular alloys or 19-inch Aniara wheels with aero covers.

Interior Features

Inside the Superb Sportline, you’ll find heated sports seats with integrated headrests and a massage function. Alternatively, there’s the option for electrically-adjustable, AGR-certified ergonomic sports seats with heating and ventilation. The dark theme continues with Microsuede and artificial leather upholstery, black roof lining, and carbon-style inserts on the dashboard and door cards. Additional features include stainless steel pedals and a Sportline badge on the steering wheel. The Superb Sportline comes with a long list of standard equipment, such as the 10-inch Virtual Cockpit, 13-inch infotainment display, ambient lighting, and laminated glass for improved noise insulation.

Sporty Chassis and Powertrain Options

The Superb Sportline features a sports chassis that sits 15 mm (0.6 inches) lower than the standard Superb. This, combined with the standard progressive steering and optional dynamic chassis control system, enhances the sporty driving experience. The Superb Sportline is available with all powertrain options, ranging from the entry-level 1.5 eTSI mHEV and 2.0 TDi diesel engines producing 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) to the most potent 2.0 TSI gasoline version generating 261 hp (195 kW / 265 PS).

Future Possibilities

While the Superb Sportline offers impressive performance, Skoda is rumored to be developing a Superb RS performance flagship with a more powerful plug-in hybrid setup. Although not officially confirmed, Skoda UK recently unveiled a Sleeper Edition one-off based on the previous generation of the Superb Combi, featuring a tuned 2.0 TSI engine delivering 470 hp.
