Police Chase in Arkansas Ends in Fiery Crash
Introduction
When individuals decide to flee from the police, they put themselves at risk of severe harm. In a recent incident in southwest Little Rock, Arkansas, a pickup truck driver experienced the consequences of his actions firsthand. Not only did he end up in a ditch, but he also witnessed the police car that collided with him catch fire and burn to a crisp, with his truck just inches away.
The Chase
The chase began innocently enough when a Saline County officer attempted to pull over the pickup truck. However, instead of complying, the driver chose to flee. Shortly after, an Arkansas State Police trooper joined the pursuit.
The Crash
As the ASP officer took over the chase, he closed the gap between himself and the truck and executed a PIT maneuver. Initially, he forced the truck into a ditch on the right side of the road. When the truck remained operational and attempted to continue, the trooper persisted and pushed it into the left ditch, causing it to roll onto its passenger side.
The Fiery Aftermath
Both pursuit vehicles’ officers immediately exited their cars and began giving commands to the driver and passenger of the truck. However, they were unaware of the ASP vehicle on the other side of the overturned pickup. At the 3:22 mark of the video, flames started to emerge from behind the front driver’s side wheel. It took nearly two minutes for the officers to realize what was happening. By that point, the Dodge Charger patrol car was filled with smoke. While one officer dealt with the suspects, the other retrieved equipment from the trunk of the burning car.
Fire Suppression Efforts
Approximately three minutes after the fire started, an officer attempted to extinguish it using a fire extinguisher. However, due to the fire’s intensity and duration, a single fire extinguisher was insufficient. Eventually, the entire car became engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.
Conclusion
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with police pursuits. While it may be tempting to evade law enforcement, the potential consequences, such as crashes and fires, are severe. It is always in everyone’s best interest to comply with police instructions and avoid putting themselves and others at risk.
