Stellantis Announces Investments in Michigan Facilities

Electrified Wagoneer Planned for Production by 2025

Stellantis, the multinational automotive manufacturer, has confirmed that an electrified version of the Wagoneer will go into production before the end of 2025. This announcement comes as part of the company’s plan to invest $406 million into three facilities in Michigan.

Ram 1500 REV to be Built in Michigan

The Ram 1500 REV, an electric pickup truck, will be built in Michigan and is scheduled to be launched later this year. The truck will be offered with two battery pack options, allowing for a range of up to 500 miles on a single charge.

New Turbocharged Engine for Hybrids

Stellantis will also produce a new 1.6-liter turbocharged engine south of Detroit. This engine will be used in hybrids that are set to launch next year.

Investments in Michigan Facilities

The majority of the funding, $406 million, will go to the Sterling Heights Assembly facility. This facility will be responsible for building the Ram 1500 REV. The Dundee Engine Plant and the Warren Truck Plant will also receive investments for various projects.

Jeep Wagoneer to be Electrified

The Warren Truck Plant will receive $97.6 million to build an electrified version of the Jeep Wagoneer. This model is one of four Jeep EVs that will be launched globally by the brand before the end of 2025.

New Turbocharged Engine Production

The Dundee Engine Plant will receive over $73 million to produce components for Stellantis’ STLA Large and STLA Frame architectures. The plant will also manufacture the new turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, which will be launched later this year.
