Stellantis US Sales Decline 21% in Second Quarter

Overview

Stellantis’ FCA US faced a challenging second quarter with a 21% drop in sales compared to the previous year. While most models experienced a decline, the Jeep Wagoneer stood out as an exception.

Sales Performance

In the second quarter of 2024, FCA US witnessed a significant decrease in sales, falling from 434,648 units to 344,993 units. Year-to-date sales also saw a 16% drop from the previous year’s numbers.

Model-Specific Declines

Several models across different brands under Stellantis reported declining sales. For instance, Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator sales were down by 17% and 24%, respectively. The discontinuation of models like the Cherokee and Renegade further impacted overall sales.

Challenges Across Brands

The sales of Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Challenger faced significant declines in the second quarter. Ram pickup, Pacifica, Durango, Alfa Romeo Giulia, and Stelvio also experienced a drop in sales.

Positive Notes

Despite the overall decline, there were some bright spots in the sales report. Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer saw an increase in sales by 107% and 24%, respectively. Surprisingly, Fiat 500X sales went up by 7% despite being discontinued.

Incentive Program

To combat the sales decline, FCA US introduced a Summer Select Inventory Bonus Cash campaign offering up to $2,000 cash back on select models. The company also highlighted its success in producing popular plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Conclusion

While facing challenges in the market, Stellantis remains focused on addressing the sales decline and implementing strategies to boost performance across its brands.
