Suzuki Invicto Hybrid Minivan: India’s Toyota Innova Zenix

Suzuki Unveils its Version of the Toyota Innova Zenix: The Suzuki Invicto

Toyota and Suzuki have been collaborating and taking full advantage of their partnership by rebadging each other’s vehicles for different markets. This time, it was Suzuki’s turn to present its own version of the Toyota Innova Zenix, which debuted in India with the Invicto moniker. The Suzuki Invicto is a minivan available in 7-seater and 8-seater configurations, exclusively with a hybrid powertrain.

Design and Styling

The Suzuki Invicto shares a lot of similarities with the Toyota Innova Zenix, especially in terms of SUV-inspired styling. However, Suzuki has made some changes to give it its own unique touch. The front end of the Invicto features a larger grille with more chrome accents, a redesigned bumper with slightly different faux intakes and skid plate, and revised headlight graphics that better suit Suzuki’s styling language. The profile remains largely the same, except for the addition of unique 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, there are slightly tweaked taillight graphics and chrome trim around the faux intakes.

Spacious Cabin and Interior Features

The Suzuki Invicto is based on a stretched version of Toyota’s GA-C unibody architecture, resulting in a spacious cabin. With a length of 4,755 mm (187.2 inches) and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm (112.2 inches), the minivan offers plenty of room for passengers. The three-row layout can accommodate either 7 or 8 seats, depending on the configuration of the second row. The boot has a capacity of 239 lt (8.4 cubic feet) with all seats in place, or 690 lt (24.4 cubic feet) when the third row is folded. The cabin also features numerous storage compartments and cup holders.

Inside, the Suzuki Invicto differs from the Toyota Innova Zenix in terms of color combinations. The Invicto comes with black leatherette upholstery for the seats and Champagne Gold accents. It also boasts a range of features, including a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 7-inch screen within the instrument cluster, a 6-speaker audio system, ventilated seats, dual-zone air-conditioning, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and more. However, it is worth noting that the minivan lacks advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), which are present in its Toyota counterpart.

Exclusive Hybrid Powertrain

While the Toyota Innova Zenix offers both petrol and hybrid powertrain options, the Suzuki Invicto is exclusively available in electrified form. It is equipped with a self-charging hybrid setup that combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 150 hp (112 kW / 152 PS) with an electric motor generating 112 hp (84 kW / 114 PS). The combined power output of the hybrid system is 183 hp (137 kW / 186 PS). Power is transmitted to the front wheels through an e-CVT gearbox. The driver also has access to four different driving modes: EV, Normal, Eco, and Power.

Production and Pricing

The Suzuki Invicto will be produced alongside its sister model at the Toyota Bidadi plant in India. It will be available in the local market through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealer network. The prices for the Invicto range between INR 24.79-28.82 lakhs ($30-35k), making it slightly cheaper than the Toyota Innova Zenix.

In conclusion, the Suzuki Invicto is the latest result of the collaboration between Toyota and Suzuki. It offers a stylish and spacious minivan with exclusive hybrid powertrain options. While it shares many similarities with the Toyota Innova Zenix, the Invicto has its own unique design elements and interior features. With its competitive pricing, the Suzuki Invicto is set to attract customers in the Indian market who are looking for a reliable and efficient minivan.
