Teen in Unlicensed BMW X1 Clocks 115 MPH with 7 Passengers, Including 2 Minors

Florida Teen Driver Faces Serious Charges After Reckless Driving Incident

A 19-year-old driver from Florida is currently facing serious charges after being caught by the police driving at a speed of 115 mph (185 km/h). What makes the situation even more concerning is that this excessive speed was recorded in a zone with a speed limit of 65 mph (105 km/h). Furthermore, the driver was operating a five-seater passenger car with seven individuals on board, two of whom were minors not wearing seatbelts.

The Incident

On Tuesday afternoon, officers were working traffic on State Road 50 near the Orange and Brevard county line in Florida. That’s where they clocked the teen before immediately giving chase. As authorities caught up to the BMW X1, they spotted him driving aggressively in traffic.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, the local Sheriff’s office utilized this incident as an opportunity to send a clear message by making an example of the young motorist. After approaching the vehicle, officers noticed two children unbuckled in the car. “Two of the seven passengers were a two year old and a four year old who were sitting on the laps of other children who were not buckled in seatbelts as well,” said the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department.

The Charges

The 19-year old produced a state-issued identification card and claimed to have a driver’s license. Police say he’s never had any license of any sort in the state though. He was subsequently arrested and hauled off to jail.

The young man has since been released from jail on a $1,000 bond. He’s facing charges of reckless driving and driving without a license. He also has citations for speeding and for the two children in the vehicle without proper restraints. There’s little question about how authorities view the traffic stop.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Department summed up its feelings at the start of its post on the incident. “YOU MAY BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE LIKE AN IDIOT IN OTHER COUNTIES BUT IT STOPS IN BREVARD COUNTY AS YOU CAN’T BRING THAT STUFF UP IN THIS HUMPY BUMPY!!”

“The good news is that we had vacancy at the “Iron Bar Lodge” for our little speed demon, who will now either learn to drive like a person with actual common sense or at the very least to not drive in Brevard County!!,” the department wrote in a social media posting on Facebook.

Conclusion

That’s one way to say that they’re proud to bring down the kind of folks willing to risk the safety of others on the road. While the teen’s actions were clearly irresponsible, we’re glad to see that he at least pulled over safely when police came up behind him.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following traffic laws and regulations. Speed limits exist for a reason, and reckless driving can have serious consequences. It’s also important to ensure that all passengers in a vehicle are properly restrained, especially minors who are more vulnerable to injury in the event of an accident.

In conclusion, while it’s fortunate that no one was hurt in this incident, it’s important to remember that reckless driving can have serious consequences. Let this serve as a reminder to always prioritize safety on the road.
