Tesla delays robotaxi launch to October

Tesla’s Robotaxi Launch Delayed Until October

Tesla has pushed back the unveiling of its autonomous ‘Cybercab’ taxi from August to October, as reported by Bloomberg. Originally scheduled for a reveal on August 8th, the delay was attributed to a last-minute redesign effort that required additional time to build more prototypes.

The Cybercab had been highly anticipated as Tesla’s next big launch, following reports from Reuters that the entry-level ‘Model 2’ EV had been scrapped. The Model 2 was expected to compete with affordable electric vehicles like the BYD Dolphin, Renault 5, and Volkswagen ID 2, with a price tag below £25,000.

Despite rumors that the Model 2 platform would be repurposed for the robotaxi, Tesla CEO Elon Musk refuted these claims, calling out Reuters for spreading misinformation. Musk hinted at the possibility of new models hitting the market by early 2025, emphasizing the company’s commitment to accelerating production of more affordable electric cars.

With the delay in the Cybercab unveiling, Tesla enthusiasts will have to wait until October to see what the future holds for the company’s autonomous ride-hailing vehicle. Stay tuned for updates as Tesla continues to innovate in the electric vehicle space.
