Tesla Sues EV Charger Adapter Manufacturer EVject for False Advertising and Trademark Dilution

Tesla, the renowned electric automaker, has recently filed a lawsuit in federal court against EVject, a startup EV charger adapter manufacturer. The lawsuit alleges false advertising, trademark dilution, and unlawful trade practices. Tesla claims that the adapter manufactured by EVject poses a significant safety risk to users.

The Safety Concerns

Tesla argues that EVject’s adapter, which is advertised as “working seamlessly” with DC chargers, fails to meet the necessary safety standards. The electric automaker asserts that the product poses a high risk to users due to potential malfunctions or failures during charging, which could result in accidents or damage to the vehicle.

Trademark Dilution and False Advertising

In addition to the safety concerns, Tesla accuses EVject of trademark dilution and false advertising. The lawsuit claims that EVject’s marketing materials and promotional activities create confusion among consumers by suggesting an affiliation or endorsement by Tesla. Tesla asserts that EVject’s unauthorized use of their trademarks misleads customers and harms their brand reputation.

Unlawful Trade Practices

Tesla further alleges that EVject has engaged in unlawful trade practices by intentionally misleading consumers about the compatibility and safety of their adapter. The lawsuit claims that EVject’s false advertising and deceptive practices violate consumer protection laws and unfairly compete with Tesla’s own charging solutions.
