Tesla’s First YouTube Ad Signals Embrace of Advertising | Giga Gears

Tesla Launches First YouTube Ad Focusing on Safety

Tesla has entered the world of advertising with its first-ever YouTube ad, which is currently being shown as a pre-roll ad on select videos. The ad stands out from typical car manufacturer advertisements as it emphasizes Tesla’s commitment to safety.

Highlighting Tesla’s Safety Focus

The YouTube ad showcases Tesla’s dedication to safety by highlighting the company’s extensive data collection capabilities. The ad states, “We’re the only carmaker in the world that has a fleet of well over a million cars on the road, fully instrumented from a sensing perspective. We can know exactly where the seat is. We can know where the steering wheel is. We know when the airbag deployed exactly to the millisecond. We have more data now than we’ve ever had before. We can understand real exposure and then we can design our vehicles for that exposure.”

Addressing Safety Concerns

At a time when Tesla’s safety systems are under scrutiny due to Autopilot and Full Self-Driving-related incidents and regulatory investigations, the ad aims to reassure viewers of Tesla’s commitment to safety.

Opportunity for Test Drives

The 30-second ad includes a sponsored link that allows interested customers to easily schedule a 30-minute test drive of a Model 3, Model S, or Model X.

Elon Musk’s Change of Heart

While Elon Musk has previously expressed his dislike for advertising, he announced during Tesla’s annual meeting earlier this year that the company would venture into advertising. It remains to be seen if Tesla will explore TV advertising or continue promoting its vehicles through social media channels.
