Thieves Abandon Damaged Chevy and GMC Trucks After Failed Mexican Train Heist

Criminals Attempt to Steal General Motors Trucks in Mexico

In a daring heist, criminals targeted a parked railcar in Mexico filled with trucks from General Motors. However, their plan was foiled, and they left empty-handed, damaging two trucks in the process.

Failed Heist at Ferromex Rail Yard

The incident took place at a Ferromex rail yard in the city of Gomez Palacio, Durango. Municipal Police noticed armed men entering the yard but arrived too late to apprehend them. The criminals had already opened a railcar and were attempting to steal a new GMC Canyon Denali and a Chevrolet Colorado. However, they abandoned their plan and fled the scene.

Truck Damage

Damaged Trucks

Photos shared by Emergencias Region Centro Sur on Facebook reveal the extent of the damage to the stolen trucks. The GMC Canyon Denali suffered significant damage to the front and rear, with the bed barely recognizable. The Chevrolet Colorado, although damaged, fared slightly better.

Train Collision Adds to GMC’s Damage

According to reports, the GMC’s condition is not solely due to its initial removal from the railcar but also because it was subsequently struck by another train. Trains have a long history of being undefeated in collisions with vehicles.

Local Gang Suspected

A local source, speaking anonymously to The Drive, believes that the thieves are part of a local gang rather than members of a cartel. The investigation into the failed heist is still ongoing.
