Which New Car or Truck Has the Ugliest Grille Today?

Automotive design can be incredibly challenging, and it’s evident that more designs miss the mark than hit it. As first impressions go, a visually appealing front grille can elevate a design that may not be so great overall. On the other hand, an unattractive grille can immediately ruin the aesthetic of a vehicle. So, we want to know: which new car or truck has the ugliest grille today?

The Search for the Ugliest Grille

For this discussion, we are looking for current models that are either already available for purchase this year or will soon be hitting dealership lots. We are focusing on four-wheeled vehicles designed for driving on public roads, so the options are vast.

BMW and GMC: Bulbous Noses and All-Grille Designs

BMW has received criticism for its bulbous noses in recent times, but this design feature is not exclusive to the brand. GMC, for example, seems to have a familial link with BMW when it comes to grille design. Take a look at the front of the Sierra HD AT4X AEV, and you’ll see that it’s almost all grille.

Mercedes EQ Series: Faux Design Elements

Even Mercedes, one of BMW’s direct rivals, could be considered for this award. The EQ series, while lacking a traditional grille, doesn’t do any favors to the somewhat suppository-shaped lineup with its faux design elements.

Lexus LM: A Terrible Relationship

Although not sold in the USA, the Lexus LM deserves a mention. While minivans and MPVs can be great, the LM looks like the start of a terrible relationship. It manages to be both scary and sad at the same time. While most of the Lexus lineup features the questionable spindle grille style, the LM takes it to an extreme.
