Top Driving Habits You Dislike

Top 5 Worst Driving Habits According to You

Bad driving habits are not only frustrating but also dangerous. Just about everyone has seen bad driving on public roads and most will admit that they too have even participated at times. A few weeks ago, we asked our readers what they thought were the absolute worst bad driving habits. Here are the top five answers according to you.

1. Tailgating and Failing to Use Turn Signals

We have a three-way tie for first place, each with ten upvotes and zero downvotes. The first one is tailgating, submitted by PsychoKisser. We all know that frustrating feeling when someone is inches away from our bumper for no discernible reason. The second one is failing to use a turn signal, submitted by Styler. This is unsafe behavior in some circumstances, so it’s easy to see why so many of you would vote for it.

2. Parking Lot Riders

The final winner is a riff off of tailgating known as the parking lot tailgater. Ben specifically called out that behavior (among a few others) and got a perfect 10 to 0 comment score too. Saving time in a busy parking lot seems to require parking quite a ways from the door and simply walking.

No doubt, a person who rides your bumper in a parking lot and then gets upset when you attempt to back into a space isn’t a very patient or courteous driver. It’s possible they might even attempt to vandalize your car should they be that upset. At least they’re not imposing the same high risk to safety that some of these other offenders likely are.

3. Lights Off

In fifth place, we have Jaxxx555 with their suggestion “People driving without their lights on (or just their DRLs) at night and on rainy days is the single most infuriating example of bad driving.” As others in the comment section pointed out, it’s somewhat surprising how many people in new cars still manage to do this despite having automatic headlights.

4. Left Lane Hogs

Coming in fourth place we have the classic slow driver in the left lane. Submitted by Holden Ute, this is a personal gripe for many. They substantiate their complaint saying “Maybe it’s because I come from a tourist city, but nothing pisses me off more than a rental Pacifica going 65 in the fast lane. Get your ass over. For you, it’s a scenic drive, for me, it’s a Tuesday commute.”

5. Distracted Driving

Distracted driving is a dangerous habit that can lead to accidents. It includes texting, eating, drinking, grooming, and any other activity that takes your attention away from the road. It was submitted by several readers and is a growing concern on the roads.

Conclusion

Bad driving habits are not only frustrating but also dangerous. Tailgating, failing to use turn signals, parking lot riders, lights off, and left lane hogs are some of the worst driving habits according to our readers. It’s important to be aware of these habits and avoid them to ensure the safety of yourself and others on the road. Remember, safe driving is good driving!
