“Toyota GR Corolla Europe: Prototypes Spotted at ‘Ring | Giga Gears”

Toyota GR Corolla Europe Launch Imminent as Prototypes Hit Nürburgring

GR Corolla (1)

Toyota is preparing to introduce its highly anticipated GR Corolla hot hatchback to the European market, as prototypes of the vehicle have been spotted testing at the Nürburgring. Enthusiasts have long been clamoring for the Gazoo Racing variant of the Corolla to be made available in Europe, where the standard Corolla is already a top-selling model for the brand.

Strong Performance Division in Europe

Toyota’s performance division, Gazoo Racing, has already established a strong presence in Europe with its current models: the GR Yaris, GR Supra, and GR 86. However, the GR 86 will soon be discontinued due to the EU’s new GSR2 safety regulations, potentially creating an opportunity for the Corolla to fill the void.

Powerful Engine and All-Wheel Drive

The GR Corolla, which is built at the same facility in Japan as the GR Yaris, features a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine producing 300bhp. This makes it a formidable competitor to popular hot hatches like the BMW M135i, Honda Civic Type R, and Volkswagen Golf R. The GR Corolla can be equipped with either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox.

Track-Honed GRMN Variant

There have also been sightings of a more powerful GRMN variant of the Corolla, which is expected to be a track-focused version of the hot hatch. Sporting a lower ride height and a chunkier rear wing, the GRMN Corolla is set to deliver an even more exhilarating driving experience.

Possible European Launch

While Toyota has not officially confirmed the European launch of the GR Corolla, the testing of prototypes at the Nürburgring suggests that it is highly likely. A Toyota spokesperson stated that major car manufacturers commonly test their global products at the Nürburgring, but did not deny the possibility of the GR Corolla being destined for European dealerships.

Exclusive and Premium Pricing

If the GR Corolla does make its way to Europe, it is expected to be a highly exclusive offering. Currently sold in North America starting at $36,500 (£27,636), the European version could potentially command a price tag north of £50,000, following a similar pricing structure to its sibling, the GR Yaris.

Overall, the impending arrival of the Toyota GR Corolla in Europe has generated significant excitement among hot hatch enthusiasts. With its powerful engine, all-wheel drive capabilities, and track-focused variants, the GR Corolla is poised to make a strong impact in the European market.
