VinFast Launches VF3 for Vietnam Market

VinFast, the Vietnamese automaker, has been making waves in the U.S. market with the release of its first electric vehicle (EV), the VF8. However, early reviews have not been entirely positive. Despite this, the company is expected to release another model, the VF9, in the near future. While the VF9 has not yet been confirmed for a North American release, VinFast has announced its newest EV, the VF3 mini crossover, which is set to hit the market in 2024. The VF3 will be a super-small crossover with seating for five and is expected to be budget-priced. The company will offer the VF3 in two trims, and it will feature touch-based systems for physical controls and other features. The dash has been cropped to allow for more interior space. The VF3 will come with a single electric motor and is likely to be a two-wheel drive model. While there are no specs or range estimates available yet, VinFast has promised an “impressive travel distance.” Orders for the VF3 will open in September 2023, with deliveries slated for the third quarter of 2024.

VinFast currently offers six other EV models in addition to the VF8, including the VF e34, VF5 Plus, VF6, VF7, VF8, and VF9. However, only the latter two models have confirmed release intentions for the United States. It remains to be seen if and when other models will make their way to the U.S. market. While tiny models like the VF3 have not had the most successful track record in the U.S., it is more likely that VinFast’s larger models will be released first.

VinFast’s foray into the U.S. market comes at a time when EVs are gaining popularity among American consumers. With the Biden administration’s push for electric vehicles and a shift towards sustainable transportation, many automakers are looking to capitalize on this trend. VinFast is no exception, and the company has ambitious plans for its EV lineup. In addition to the VF3, the company has announced plans to release 15 new EV models by 2025.

VinFast’s parent company, Vingroup, is a major conglomerate in Vietnam with interests in real estate, healthcare, and education, among other sectors. The company launched VinFast in 2017 with the goal of creating a world-class automotive brand. VinFast has since made significant strides in the industry, with its EVs receiving praise for their design and performance.

VinFast’s entry into the U.S. market has not been without its challenges, however. The company has faced criticism for its lack of experience in the U.S. market and concerns over the quality of its vehicles. In response, VinFast has emphasized its commitment to safety and quality, with its vehicles undergoing rigorous testing and certification processes.

In conclusion, VinFast’s newest EV, the VF3 mini crossover, is set to hit the market in 2024. While there are no specs or range estimates available yet, VinFast has promised an “impressive travel distance.” The VF3 will be a budget-priced model with touch-based systems for physical controls and other features. While VinFast currently offers six other EV models, only the VF8 and VF9 have confirmed release intentions for the United States. With the Biden administration’s push for electric vehicles and a shift towards sustainable transportation, VinFast’s entry into the U.S. market comes at an opportune time. However, the company will need to overcome challenges related to its lack of experience in the U.S. market and concerns over the quality of its vehicles.
