“VinFast VF 8 Recall for Airbag Issue | Giga Gears”

VinFast Recalls Nearly 300 Vehicles Due to Non-Functional Airbags

Recently, VinFast announced a recall of 284 VF 8 crossovers in the United States because of potential issues with the airbags. This safety concern affects 52 vehicles that are already in the hands of customers.

Safety Concerns

The Safety Recall Report revealed that these vehicles may have been mistakenly equipped with inert airbag inflators. The problem came to light when a customer in Vietnam noticed the airbag warning light illuminated in their crossover.

Investigation and Resolution

VinFast conducted an investigation and found that the front passenger side airbag had an inert ignitor, which should have only been used in pre-production models. To address this safety risk, the automaker initiated a voluntary recall and issued a stop-ship and stop-sale order for affected vehicles globally.

Next Steps

Fortunately, no accidents or injuries have been reported due to this issue. Dealers will replace the non-functional airbags with new ones containing active ignitors. Customers will be notified about the recall, and vehicles with inert ignitors will display an airbag warning light to alert drivers.
