Volkswagen ID 7: Prices Announced for EV Flagship

Introduction

Volkswagen has announced the pricing for its highly anticipated electric vehicle flagship, the Volkswagen ID 7. Set to go on sale in January 2024, the ID 7 will be priced at £55,570, making it more expensive than its competitors such as the Hyundai Ioniq 6, BMW i4, Polestar 2, and Tesla Model 3.

Pro Launch Edition

The ID 7 Pro Launch Edition comes with several premium features as standard, including 19-inch alloys, a 15-inch infotainment system, and heated front seats. Additionally, customers will receive a free home wall charger and £750 in public charging credits.

Future Trim Levels

While pricing for other ID 7 models has not yet been announced, it is expected that Volkswagen will offer cheaper trim levels in the future to cater to a wider range of customers.

Key Features

The ID 7 saloon boasts a range of up to 435 miles, making it a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3. It features brand-new infotainment software, driving dynamics optimized for long-distance travel, and two available battery options. The first is a 77kWh pack that offers a range of 382 miles and 170kW charging. The second is an 86kWh unit that allows for a range of 435 miles and top-ups at up to 200kW. The fastest Pro S model can achieve a 0-62mph time of around 6.0 seconds.

Spacious and Luxurious

The ID 7 saloon measures nearly five meters long and has a wheelbase of around three meters, making it larger than the Volkswagen Passat and closer in size to the Phaeton luxury saloon. Its cabin offers practicality and luxury, with features such as a panoramic roof, optional massage seats, an augmented reality head-up display, and interior ambient lighting with up to 30 colors. The infotainment system is a 15.0-inch touchscreen running a heavily overhauled version of Volkswagen’s MIB software platform. The ID 7 also boasts a spacious boot with 532 liters of space, surpassing competitors like the BMW i4 and Tesla Model 3.

ID 7 Tourer

Volkswagen has also previewed an estate version of the ID 7, named the ID 7 Tourer. This model is underpinned by Volkswagen’s MEB platform, which maximizes interior space through a long wheelbase and short overhangs. The ID 7 Tourer offers 545 liters of boot space with the rear seats upright and 1714 liters with them folded down, providing even more practicality. It features aerodynamic design elements to optimize its range, including a smooth front bumper, rear lip spoiler, and flush door handles. The ID 7 Tourer is set to be officially revealed in the coming months.

With its impressive range, luxurious features, and spacious design, the Volkswagen ID 7 is set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market. Customers can expect a premium driving experience and cutting-edge technology when it arrives in January 2024.
