Introduction

Volkswagen has introduced the new range-topping GTX variant of the retro-styled ID Buzz, offering a more powerful dual-motor powertrain and sporty exterior design. Priced at £67,435, the ID Buzz GTX is set to be delivered to customers starting this month. It joins the ID 3 GTX and ID 7 GTX Tourer as part of Volkswagen’s lineup of performance-oriented EVs. The ID Buzz GTX is available in both standard and long-wheelbase options.

Power and Performance

The ID Buzz GTX is described by Volkswagen as “the most powerful Bulli of all time.” It features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain, similar to the ID 7 GTX Tourer, delivering an impressive 335bhp, a significant increase from the standard car’s 201bhp. The torque has also been dramatically increased, with the dual-motor Buzz producing 413lb ft, allowing it to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 6.6 seconds. The increased power also enables the ID Buzz to tow up to 1800kg, up from 1000kg.

Battery and Range

The ID Buzz GTX comes with an enhanced battery capacity of 79kWh, up from 77kWh in the standard version. The long-wheelbase variant offers an even larger 86kWh pack. The standard GTX provides a range of 262 miles and can be charged at up to 185kW, allowing for a 10-80% boost in just 25 minutes. The seven-seat GTX offers a range of 295 miles and has a higher 200kW peak charge rate.

Design and Features

The ID Buzz GTX features subtle design changes to enhance its sporty appearance while maintaining its retro appeal. It includes a GTX-style front bumper design with ‘arrowhead’ LED daytime-running lights, a honeycomb grille, and black gloss trim. The standard model comes with 19-inch wheels, with the option to upgrade to 21-inch wheels. Inside, the Buzz GTX offers ‘comfort’ seats with red stitching and GTX lettering. It is equipped with a 12.9-inch touchscreen and Volkswagen’s latest software.

Long-wheelbase versions of the ID Buzz GTX can be fitted with Volkswagen’s electronically controlled panoramic roof, the largest sunroof ever offered by the brand.

The ID Buzz GTX is now available for order, with prices starting at £67,435 for the standard model and £67,945 for the seven-seat variant.
