Volvo EX30 owners receive refunds for software problems

Volvo EX30 Owners Refunded Over Software Issues

Volvo is addressing serious software issues with the EX30 that have led some owners to return their cars, according to Autocar.

Issues Reported by Owners

Owners have experienced a range of issues, including black screens, unresponsive steering-wheel buttons, charging problems, and unexpected emergency braking activation. Some have also encountered bricked infotainment touchscreens, incorrect information display, profile resets, and driver aid failures.

Response from Volvo

A Volvo spokesperson acknowledged the concerns, stating, “We recognize that this is not what they expect from their Volvo car, and we are working to remedy this as swiftly as possible with the minimum of inconvenience to our customers.”

Software Reliance in the EX30

The EX30 heavily relies on its software for key functions such as headlights, wing mirrors, and climate control, all accessed through the central touchscreen. Physical controls are limited to window switches, door locks, and hazard warning buttons.

Future Updates

Volvo has temporarily removed the EX30 from its UK online configurator in preparation for the 2025-model-year version launching on 8 July. The company assures customers that the current model is still available in dealer stock, with the option to pre-select the MY2025 version at dealerships.

Previous Software Challenges

Before its release in February, Volvo delayed the EX30 to perform crucial software updates. The company stated that no major changes would be made until receiving feedback from customers.

Overall, Volvo is committed to resolving these software issues promptly to ensure a positive ownership experience for EX30 owners.
