“Volvo EX90 Launch Lacks Apple CarPlay and Smart Charging | Giga Gears”

Volvo’s Flagship EX90 Set to Arrive in the UK in October with Missing Features

Volvo’s highly anticipated flagship, the EX90, is set to hit UK roads in October with a starting price of £96,255. However, customers may be disappointed to learn that some key features, such as smart charging, Apple CarPlay, and certain safety functions, will be missing upon delivery.

Updates for Missing Features

Volvo has assured customers that any missing features will be added later through an update, although no specific date has been confirmed. The Swedish car maker has already contacted affected owners in the UK regarding the issue.

Setbacks for the Brand

This news comes on the heels of Volvo refunding some EX30 owners earlier this month due to various software issues. These issues ranged from screens going black to steering-wheel buttons not responding and cars not charging.

Missing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

The US-built EX90 may also lack two advanced driver assistance systems that detect hazards at junctions and automatically apply brakes. Additionally, certain lidar features, such as night use, are not expected to be included in the initial models. The car’s automatic ability to slow down for corners when using cruise control may also be absent.

Premium Features Missing

In addition to missing safety functions, the EX90 will also lack premium features like Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system will only offer a dark theme, and smart charging options like bi-directional charging and plug and charge will not be available at launch.

Battery Drain Concerns

Volvo has also noted that the car could drain up to 3% of its battery per 24 hours while parked, up to a maximum of 72 hours. However, a future update will address this issue by optimizing the core system’s background processes.

Continual Improvement Promised

Despite these setbacks, Volvo remains committed to delivering a top-quality product. A spokesperson for the company emphasized that the EX90 is designed to improve over time through updates and upgrades that enhance functionality and add new features.

CEO’s Perspective

Volvo CEO Jim Rowan reassured customers that the EX90’s software-defined nature allows for continuous upgrades via over-the-air updates. He emphasized that customers who invest in advanced technology products like the EX90 will benefit from ongoing improvements and new features.

As Volvo prepares to launch its new fully electric flagship SUV, customer satisfaction and product quality remain top priorities for the brand.
