“Volvo V60 and V90 make surprise comeback in UK”

Volvo V60 and V90 Return to UK Showrooms with Hybrid Power

Revival of Medium and Large Estate Cars

Volvo is reintroducing its much-missed estate cars to the UK market after taking them off sale last year to focus on SUVs. The Volvo V60 and V90 are making a comeback due to a resurgence in demand for estate cars.

New Hybrid Power Options

The V60 will be available with a 2.0-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine producing 197bhp, as well as two petrol plug-in hybrid powertrains with 350bhp and 455bhp. The V90 returns exclusively with plug-in hybrid powertrains, offering a 0-62mph time of just 5.5 seconds in its most potent form and an electric-only range of up to 36 miles.

Pricing and Availability

Prices for the new variants are expected to be announced soon. Previously, the V60 was priced from £47,750 for the mild hybrid and £57,580 for the PHEV, while the V90 PHEV cost £62,220 before sales stopped. Orders for the V60 and V90 will begin next month.

Customer Demand Drives Decision

Volvo confirmed the decision to bring back estate cars in response to increased demand from UK customers. The company stated that while estate car sales have been declining, recent months have shown a renewed interest in their estate products.

Future Plans

It is unclear how long the V60 and V90 will be available for sale as they approach the end of their lifecycles. Volvo has not provided a specific timeframe but remains committed to meeting customer demand.

Focus on EVs

Volvo’s decision to reintroduce estate cars comes as the company shifts its focus towards electric vehicles. Production of the S60 will end to make way for the new EX90 electric SUV, while plans for an electric Volvo estate remain undisclosed as the company streamlines its lineup.
