The Volkswagen ID 3 GTX Performance: The Electric Alternative to the Golf GTI Clubsport

The Volkswagen ID 3 GTX Performance, the electric equivalent of the Golf GTI Clubsport, will be available for purchase on August 29th. Priced at £46,225, this hot hatch offers an impressive 322bhp.

Unmatched Power and Acceleration

With its 322bhp, the ID 3 GTX Performance can go from 0-62mph in just 5.7 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating EV in Volkswagen’s lineup.

Premium Performance at a Premium Price

Compared to its competitors, the ID 3 GTX Performance comes with a near-£10,000 premium. It is priced just above the Cupra Born VZ (£44,570) and significantly higher than the MG 4 EV XPower (£36,495).

A New Era for Volkswagen

The ID 3 GTX Performance is Volkswagen’s first electric hot hatch. Later this year, it will be joined by the less powerful ID 3 GTX, which offers 282bhp. Both models utilize the same APP550 electric motor found in the standard ID 3 but with a higher state of tune.

Enhanced Chassis and Suspension

The GTX models feature several chassis and suspension improvements to deliver a more dynamic driving experience. These enhancements include retuned steering for greater precision, sports suspension, and a new Dynamic Chassis Control system, similar to the Golf GTI.

Impressive Range and Fast Charging

The ID 3 GTX Performance is equipped with a 79kWh (usable) battery, providing an official range of up to 369 miles. It also supports DC charging, which can deliver a 10-80% charge in just 26 minutes.

Sporty Design and Features

The GTX Performance boasts a sportier look, featuring a new model-specific front bumper design, ‘arrowhead’ LED daytime running lights, black gloss trim, and a rear diffuser. It comes with 20-inch wheels as standard and sports seats for added comfort and style.

Continuing the Legacy of Volkswagen’s Compact GT Models

Kai Grünitz, Volkswagen’s technical development boss, describes the ID 3 GTX Performance as the electric counterpart to the Golf GTI Clubsport. Volkswagen aims to carry on the tradition of its compact GT models in the world of electric mobility, ensuring driving pleasure is guaranteed.

The ID 3 GTX Performance joins the lineup of GTX models, which includes the ID 4 SUV, ID 5 SUV, ID Buzz MPV, ID 7 saloon, and ID 7 Tourer estate.
