Introduction
Volkswagen has officially started pre-sales of the all-electric ID.7 Vizzion in China through its FAW-VW joint venture. The Chinese version of the ID.7 is nearly identical to the variant sold in overseas markets but comes at a significantly lower price point.
Competitive Pricing
The ID.7 Vizzion starts at just 237,700 yuan in China, which is equivalent to US$33,200 or €30,400. In comparison, the same model is priced from €56,995 in Germany, approximately $62,300, making it nearly twice as expensive (+88%) in Volkswagen’s home country.
Specifications
The Chinese version of the ID.7 Vizzion features an 84.8 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack that powers a single electric motor at the rear axle, delivering 201 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque in the entry-level model. The European and U.S. versions are available with 77 kWh and 86 kWh battery packs. The base rear-wheel drive model in Germany comes with a more powerful 282 hp (210 kW) motor.
Impressive Range
The entry-level ID.7 Vizzion for the Chinese market boasts a claimed CLTC range of 642 km (399 miles). A twin-motor, all-wheel drive version with a driving range of 570 km (354 miles) is also in the works but pricing details have not been announced yet.
Key Features
The Chinese-market ID.7 Vizzion comes equipped with a range of features including a 15-inch central infotainment screen, a small digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, a configurable ambient lighting system, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
Competition
Volkswagen’s competitive pricing puts the ID.7 Vizzion in direct competition with models like the Tesla Model Y, starting at 266,400 yuan ($37,300), and the BMW iX3, available for as little as 285,000 yuan ($39,900).
