  • Entry-level models will feature a rear-mounted electric motor with 228 hp.
  • The production of the ID.UNYX will be handled by Volkswagen Anhui, the company’s joint venture with JAC.

Design and Specifications

The ID.UNYX is based on the Cupra Tavascan and is the first model in VW’s new ID.UX series. The SUV measures 4,663 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and stands 1,610 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,766 mm. The front fascia of the ID.UNYX features sharp headlights connected by an LED light bar, giving it a distinct VW ID family resemblance.

Power and Performance

All variants of the ID.UNYX will be powered by an 82.4 kWh battery pack from CATL. The entry-level models will have a single electric motor at the rear producing 228 hp. Meanwhile, flagship versions will boast a dual-motor setup with a combined output of 335 hp. The base model is estimated to have a range of 385 miles on a single charge.

Availability and Pricing

While local pricing details are yet to be announced, VW has positioned the ID.UNYX as a “sub-brand for China,” indicating that it may not be available outside of the Chinese market. The ID.UNYX is part of VW’s strategy to expand its electric vehicle offerings in China and is expected to be followed by four more EVs in the ID.UX series by 2027.
