Wuling E10: China’s Ultra-Slim Electric LCV Perfect for Hallway Driving

Introducing the Wuling E10: China’s Narrow Electric Commercial Vehicle

When it comes to narrow LCVs (light commercial vehicles), our minds often jump to the Japanese kei trucks. However, there’s a new contender from China that puts them to shame in terms of width. The Wuling E10 is a fully electric single-seater commercial vehicle designed specifically for navigating the narrowest streets of megacities. It aims to revolutionize last-mile delivery solutions and replace tricycles commonly used in congested urban areas.

Exterior Design and Features

The Wuling E10 boasts unconventional proportions, with its narrow face and tiny 12-inch wheels. Despite its unique appearance, the boxy and minimalist body has some interesting details, such as the sad-looking headlights in the black-painted nose. Additionally, there is a higher-roof option available, which can be utilized as a refrigerator for transporting and selling flowers, ice cream, fruit, food, or drinks. Inside the single-seater cabin, you’ll find manual A/C, a digital instrument cluster, and a USB port for charging.

Impressive Dimensions and Practicality

Measuring only 1,080 mm (42.5 inches) in width, the Wuling E10 can easily fit two vehicles behind a 2,202 mm (86.7 inches) wide GMC Hummer EV. It also boasts a tight turning radius of 4.3 m (14.1 feet), making it incredibly maneuverable in tight spaces. Despite its narrowness, the vehicle offers practicality with a length of 3,305 mm (130.1 inches) and a height of 1,690 mm (66.5 inches). The rear box has an impressive capacity of up to 1.7 cubic meters (60 cubic feet), while the load capacity is limited to 200 kg (441 pounds), considering its curb weight of 620 kg (1,367 pounds).

Electric Performance and Range

Powering the Wuling E10 is a front-mounted electric motor that produces 27 hp (20 kW / 27 PS), with a top speed limited to 71 km/h (44 mph). The vehicle is equipped with a 9 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, which may seem small but provides an electric range of 150 km (93 miles) when adhering to the 40 km/h (25 miles) speed limits of inner city circles. The battery is compatible with AC chargers and regular 220V household plugs, allowing for convenient charging anywhere.

Launch and Pricing

The Wuling E10 made its online debut in early 2022, followed by its official launch in China on August 28, 2023. Initially available for corporations, it has now been made accessible to the general public. Wuling offers two variants of the E10, priced at ¥36,800 ($5,054) and ¥39,800 ($5,466) respectively.

Conclusion

The Wuling E10 is a game-changer in the world of narrow LCVs. With its compact dimensions, electric powertrain, and impressive practicality, it is poised to revolutionize last-mile delivery solutions in congested urban areas. Whether it’s navigating narrow streets or delivering goods efficiently, the Wuling E10 offers a unique and eco-friendly solution. As the world shifts towards sustainable transportation, this Chinese-made electric commercial vehicle is certainly one to watch.
