Wuling Launches New Xing Guang Plug-In Hybrid in China

Stylish Design and Aerodynamic Efficiency

Wuling, known for its pint-sized electric vehicles, has introduced the new Xing Guang (Starlight) plug-in hybrid in China. The sedan features an aerodynamically optimized grille, LED headlights, and streamlined bodywork, resulting in a drag coefficient of 0.228. The rear end resembles the EV6 with flowing taillights, and the car is equipped with 17- or 18-inch wheels wrapped in low rolling resistance tires.

Compact and Well-Equipped Interior

The Xing Guang measures 190.4 inches long, 73.2 inches wide, and 59.6 inches tall, with a wheelbase of 110.2 inches. Inside, the cabin offers a minimalist design with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment system. Gloss black accents, a floating center console, and a rotary shifter add to the modern aesthetic. Additional features include a six-way power driver’s seat, automatic climate control, and a four-speaker audio system. The range-topping variant boasts an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch infotainment system with Ling OS, and a fancier steering wheel.

Efficient Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain

The Xing Guang is powered by a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a 174 hp electric motor. The entry-level variant has a 9.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing an electric-only range of 43 miles, while the range-topping trim has a 20.5 kWh battery, extending the electric range to 93 miles. Both variants offer an overall WLTC range of over 684 miles.

Pricing and Future Plans

The Xing Guang starts at ¥88,800 ($12,558) and goes up to ¥105,800 ($14,962) for the range-topping variant. Wuling has also confirmed its plans to introduce a fully electric model next year.
