Xiaomi SU7 Breaks Down After 24 Miles, Dealer Unable to Fix | Giga Gears

Xiaomi SU7 Electric Sedan Encounters Issues After Delivery

Despite the popularity of the Xiaomi SU7 in China, several owners have faced problems shortly after receiving the new EV. One such incident involved a bright blue SU7 breaking down after just 24 miles (39 km) of driving, leaving the owner stranded and requiring the car to be returned to the factory for analysis.

Owner’s Experience

The electric sedan, owned by Mr. Wen, experienced a sudden shutdown while driving on May 5, a day after being collected from a Xiaomi delivery center in Fujian Province. The car displayed warnings of an imminent stoppage and a faulty drive system, preventing shifting between drive and reverse.

Dealer Center’s Response

After being towed back to the delivery center, technicians were unable to diagnose the issue and advised sending the car back to the factory for further inspection. Mr. Wen requested a replacement SU7 instead of repairs, but due to all current models being allocated, he may have to place a new order.

Xiaomi’s Resolution

Xiaomi is working with the owner to arrange a full refund for the defective vehicle and compensate for any expenses incurred. With over 10,000 SU7s produced in recent months, other owners have reported issues like paint problems and concerns about the traction control system.

Ongoing Concerns

Recent revelations about the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system’s limitations and the need for an over-the-air update beyond 84 mph (135 km/h) have raised further questions about the SU7’s performance and reliability.
