Xiaomi Set to Launch New SUV Model Following Success of Electric Sedan

Introduction

Xiaomi, a newcomer in the automotive industry, is gearing up to introduce its second model, an SUV, hot on the heels of the successful launch of the SU7 electric sedan. Codenamed MX11, this new model is expected to debut next year with both EV and range-extender options. Renderings based on prototype sightings offer a glimpse into what the production model may look like.

Design Inspiration

The upcoming Xiaomi SUV shares a striking resemblance in shape to the sedan, opting for a design that combines elements of both a sedan and an SUV. This design philosophy mirrors popular models like the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Ferrari Purosangue.

Renderings and Design Features

Renderings of the Chinese brand’s second EV showcase a design that is reminiscent of the sedan but with lifted features. The front of the vehicle boasts stylish split headlights and gloss black elements, adding to its appeal. Gloss black fenders, side skirts, and a higher roofline contribute to the SUV’s unique aesthetic.

A second set of renderings from EET China reveals a model with a higher fascia, sharper lines, and fewer curves compared to the Sugar Design creation. Both renderings showcase curved LED taillights and a full-width light bar, similar to the SU7.

Future Prospects

The Xiaomi SUV, currently known as the MX11, is likely to be based on the ‘Modena’ platform used for the SU7. However, reports suggest that it may receive a new architecture to accommodate a range-extender option. The production version of the SUV is expected to undergo further refinements before its official launch.
