Zeekr Reveals the 7X: A Premium Electric SUV Heading to Europe in 2025

Zeekr 7X 1

Introduction

Zeekr, the upmarket Chinese brand, has unveiled its latest electric vehicle (EV), the 7X. This premium SUV, which is similar in size to the Volkswagen Touareg, is twinned with the rugged Smart #5. The 7X will initially be available for purchase in China in late September, with plans to expand to other markets, including Europe, by the end of 2025. This release follows the successful launch of Zeekr’s previous EV models, the Zeekr 001 saloon and Zeekr X crossover, which are already available in select European markets. Zeekr is expected to enter the UK market next year, joining other Geely-owned brands such as LEVC, Lotus, Polestar, Smart, and Volvo.

Key Features

The Zeekr 7X measures 4.8m in length, 1.9m in width, and 1.7m in height. While it does not offer a third row of seats, it aims to provide a spacious and comfortable experience for passengers. The second row offers ample room, and the vehicle is designed to support weekend camping staycations. Although its 616-litre boot capacity is slightly smaller than some competitors, such as the Hyundai Santa Fe with 628 litres, the 7X compensates with its roomy interior.

Performance and Charging

The 7X is built on the same SEA platform as the new Smart #5 SUV and is equipped with either a 75kWh or 100kWh battery. In Europe, the 7X will exclusively come with the larger battery pack, providing a range of approximately 348 miles, similar to the #5. Additionally, both models utilize an 800V electrical architecture, enabling fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. While specific power and torque figures have not been released, Zeekr claims the 7X can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds.

Interior and Pricing

Details regarding the interior features of the European-market 7X models have not been disclosed yet. However, it is anticipated that the dual-screen interior setup and a range of active safety features will be retained. Zeekr aims to offer the 7X at a competitive starting price of approximately £40,000 in the UK, following the trend of Chinese car manufacturers undercutting their rivals.

With its impressive range, spacious interior, and advanced features, the Zeekr 7X is poised to make a significant impact in the European EV market when it arrives in 2025.
