Zoox Robotaxis Could Join Amazon Prime

Zoox Robotaxis: A Potential Addition to Amazon Prime

Zoox, a company that has been quietly making waves in the autonomous vehicle industry, is rumored to be considering offering rides through Amazon Prime. While no official announcement has been made, a spokesperson hinted at the possibility, stating that it is something they could explore in the future.

Amazon Prime: A Potential Platform for Zoox

Amazon Prime, a subscription service that currently offers expedited shipping and access to Prime Video for $14.99 per month, could soon include Zoox’s robotaxis as part of its offerings. With an estimated 180 million Prime users in the United States, the addition of autonomous rides could be a lucrative move for both companies.

Zoox’s Autonomous Journey

Zoox has been testing its robotaxis on public roads since 2023, starting with an employee shuttle service that traveled at 35 mph. The company has since increased the speed limit to 45 mph and expanded operations to include night and light rain conditions. While the vehicles are capable of reaching speeds of up to 75 mph, Zoox is prioritizing safety and reliability over speed.

The Road Ahead for Zoox and Amazon

While the partnership between Zoox and Amazon is not yet confirmed, the companies are working towards a commercial launch of the autonomous ride-hailing service. Zoox recently received a Driverless AV Pilot permit in California, allowing them to transport passengers without charging a fare. The ultimate goal is to monetize the service and make it a profitable venture for both companies.
